Additional Features
The Growing Dendrites mobile learning application has a wide variety of leveled reading passages for elementary-aged children that cover many topics related to the curriculum and common themes of classroom study. With each reading passage is a ten question, multiple choice/true or false assessment. To learn more about the assessments and options for teachers and parents, please visit that area of the website. This section is devoted to showing you some of the amazing additional features that the Growing Dendrites app has to offer for its users.
Interactive Simulations and Activities
For every topic (weather, outer space, government, etc.) there are interactive activities for students to explore that are aligned to real world tasks. Become a meteorologist and report the weather. Visit different Native American tribes and learn about their cultures while helping them to complete important daily tasks such as hunting and handiwork. Even become a deep sea diver and learn how to assess the health of a coral reef.
Example:
Are you learning about how to test a rock tin order to identify which minerals are inside of it? If so, you can visit the rock identification room in the Knowledge Gallery. First, you will select a rock. Then you will make observations about its color, luster, streak, and hardness in a virtual science lab.
Search Boxes
When users enter the elevator of the Knowledge Gallery, they can select a floor. However, if they do not see the exact topic they are looking for, users can conduct a search. They simply press the "Search" button in the bottom right hand corner of the screen and type in whatever keywords they are looking for, such as "tundra" or "wind speed," which are subtopics within overarching concepts. Even if users have clicked onto a floor, a "Search" button is always available in the lower right corner.

Learning Extensions and Links
Our mission at Growing Dendrites is to kickstart a love of learning and to inspire students to continue their knowledge explorations beyond the app. For that reason, we offer book recommendations, Internet links, lesson plan ideas, and printables related to the content. Here is a quick look at the extras that are available to users in the topic of the solar system.

Interactive Graphic Organizers
In the Concept Maps section of the Growing Dendrites application, users can find five different interactive graphic organizers. These can be saved so that students are able to add, delete, or change things throughout the course of a unit of study.
